5. Blood pressure: Blood pressure is the force that blood exerts on the walls of the blood vessels when the heart is beating and is at rest. Our blood pressure varies throughout the course of the day. Blood pressure that is high on a daily basis, or hypertension, cannot be cured but can be controlled. Uncontrolled hypertension increases one’s risk for cardiovascular disease. For an accurate blood pressure reading, participants should be seated for several minutes prior. Things that may cause elevated readings in the short-term are smoking prior to the screening, caffeine, some cold remedies and prescription medications.
Health screenings are conducted by a Certified Health
Education Specialist or Registered Dietitian. Health Screening Events also
include results provided to the individual, education on exercise/nutrition
recommendations as needed, and a confidential composite summary of screening
results for the business. |
